Why did we build this template?
We want to have an intentional focus on the work we do by separating planning and execution into different moments of our lives.
We want to have a meaningful way to document and process our learnings.
We want to plan for the time ahead so we make the best use of our limited time.
What does it do?
Prompts to reflect meaningfully and understand our data.
Templates for reviewing quarterly, monthly, and weekly.
How does it work?
Here's the story you need to tell yourself to run the 'business' of YOU.
As the director, you have a quarterly responsibility to determine your direction. You determine the values you stand for, as well as the areas of competence that you want to be known for.
Learn More: Quarterly Review
As the founder, you have a monthly responsibility to determine your dreams. Based on the values and areas, you determine the goals and key results.
Learn More: Monthly Review
As the manager, you have a weekly responsibility to scout for the resources to make your dream a reality. Now it's time for you to determine the how by creating projects to work on.
Learn More: Weekly Review
As the project manager, you're the one putting in the daily hours to get things done. You take the key results and projects set out for you and prioritize tasks to complete them.
Learn More: Daily Planning
Therefore, when you're taking action and working on your tasks, you don't care about anything other than what's immediately in front of you, with the confidence that you are doing the exact right thing at the right time because you have been meaningfully planning throughout this whole time.
We are heavily inspired by the agile framework for iterative development backed by continuous feedback through good reporting. Milestones often change as you start doing the work and learn new information, and you need to adapt appropriately.
Instead of betting everything on a "big bang" launch, an agile team delivers work in small, but consumable, increments. Requirements, plans, and results are evaluated continuously so teams have a natural mechanism for responding to change quickly. The agile framework that we practice the most is Scrum.
