The week review was built to help you gain clarity over what you should be focusing on in your week, based on the decisions made in your quarterly and monthly review.

Then at the end of the week, easily look back on your reflections and wins to understand how your week went so you can use real data to help you make better decisions for the next week and make faster iterations.

I like to spend at least 30 minutes on this review because I've found that the time spent has an exponential return on my efficiency and mental health.

Use templates to help you generate convenient tables in the page body to help you access specific parts of the system to have a conducive review.

Starting The Week

First, decide which day you will be conducting your weekly review. Personally, I prefer Sundays because after I conduct my review, I can share my wins and struggles in our Sunday Council Meeting.

Doing so will create a new entry in your weekly review database, with a lot of important views in the page body that we will need.

Fill in the the appropriate dates for your week, depending on the day you start. In this example, I selected between Monday (Apr 26, 2021) to Sunday (May 2, 2021). I also related the month to the April 2021, which we created in our month review.

Then, we want to set this week's focus. There are a few important sections to note.

Reference: Sub-Areas This Month

In our Areas Of Competence, we had a formula for Special Events that calculated the last modified date and the review frequency to determine if its time to review.

It's always a good practice to review your sub-areas from time to time, because the information there may be outdated, or requires further attention.

If you want to work on any of these sub-areas this week, simply check the In Progress property, which will then ensure that they will show up in your Daily Planning dashboard.

Reference: Goals This Month

The default filters for this section will show you the goals that have...

  • Status = In Progress

  • or Status = Not Complete with a Do Date within the next month (30 days).

You can choose to refine your selection by changing the filter for do dates manually and removing the relative filter. (eg. You might want to see goals that have a do date between Feb 1 - Apr 1 instead, depending on how you space out your goals).

Then, select up to 4* goals you want to work on by checking the Focus property.

*If you can handle more, feel free to increase this number.

To verify your work, you will see all the goals you currently have in focus. There is a potential that you have goals in focus leftover from last week that have not been completed yet. That is fine, and you can use this opportunity to see if you may want to swap priorities with another goal that is more urgent this week.

Reference: Key Results This Month

The default filters for this section will show you the key results that have...

  • Upstream Focus = ✅.

  • or Status = In Progress.

  • or Status = Not Complete with a Do Date within the next month (30 days).

You can choose to refine your selection by changing the filter for do dates manually and removing the relative filter.

Pick 3-6* key results you'd like to focus on by clicking on the check for "Focus". Then,

  • Finetune the do dates so that they are reasonable.

  • Define downstream projects.

*If you can handle more, feel free to increase this number.
